Magnetic Flux in a Toroid The magnetic flux in the Joint European Torus (JET), the largest and most successful fusion device in the world. Using it, researchers are attempting to commercialize controlled nuclear fusion to provide a potentially clean, safe and virtually everlasting energy source. This elaborate system is essentially a toroidal-shaped magnetic device that confines dense, high-temperature plasma. The FEMLAB plot shows the magnetic flux lines where the color represents the modulus of the magnetic flux vector.
