Deformation of oil droplets in water caused by pressure variation

Hi everyone,

I am trying to build a model in which a drop of oil in water (emulsion) is subject to cyclical pressure variations (for example, sinusoidal). The final aim is to show the deformation of the spherical geometry of the droplet under different pressure condition. I've read many posts, but i couldn't find anyt info about how to model the droplet and which modules should be used for this simulations. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Please find below the simulation domain I am thinking to use.

Hello Jeff,

thank you for the advice. I checked out the model you suggested before starting this post, but unfortunately it didn't solve most of my doubts, such as:

  • How can I model the pressure that will deform the bubble? Should i use the acoustic module, apply the input pressure to a boundary and perform a time domain study?

-How can I model the deformation of the oil droplet? I know that the structural mechanics module can show the deformation of an object, but it should be a solid. Can iI obtain the wanted result with the multiphase flow modeling?
