Modeling cracks

I'm brand-new to Comsol. I'm trying to model a pipe with a weld that does not penetrate through the entire wall of the pipe and runs the entire length of the pipe. There is a load being applied to the inside of the pipe.
I initially built a ring (using the difference between two circles) and then took another difference, between the ring and bezier polygon. This left a little crack in the pipe, as I wanted. But after adding the pressure (including to the bezier polygon surface), I realized that having the bezier polygon had no effect on the final results.
How might I be able to go about modeling this weld?
I'm trying to find the KI, if that's important.

Hi Challen,

I am also very new to Comsol and trying to model something similar but without the circumferential weld. Have you found a solution to this? If yes, please kindly share it with me. Thanks in advance.

This tutorial illustrates how to compute the stress intensity factor KI:
