Method for determining the mobility tuning parameter in phase-field modeling of two-phase flow

In the Technical Support Knowledge Base, it is stated that when simulating two-phase flow problems using the phase-field method, the mobility tuning parameter can be calculated based on the velocity (as shown in the figure), rather than on the fluid viscosity, interface thickness parameter, and characteristic length scale. Is there any published reference that demonstrates the reliability of this algorithm?
