I recently built a PDMS microvalves, which is constituted by a thin membrane layer on top and a thick semicircular microwell at the bottom. I want simulate the deformation of membrane under different pressure, and study when and under how much pressure will the membrane fully deformed and cause fully closure of the microwell.
There are two problems i have encountered. the first is about the visualization of the results. COMSOL always display the exaggerated deformation rather than the actual deformation calculated under different pressure, which won't allow me a straight display of the deformation level, and closure of microwell. the second is that when the membrane deforms, it is not taking the distance between the membrane and microwell as the maximum deform distance. even after I set the microwell surface as fix constraint, the deform results still shows the membrane deformed through the well bottom. Isn't this wired?
Did any of you work with anything similar? how did you cope with this problem?
