About the thermal stress on multi-layered thin film

Dear COMSOL users

I am interested in simple 2D thermal stress simulations of multi-layered thin film with larger temperature variations.

I found the similar COMSOL example (Thermal Stresses in a Layered Plate.). The condition of the example is
ver similar to my condition so this is very helpful for me.

In this example, it uses the stress tensors from previous study step by using 'Initial Stress and Strain' option.
but, it doesnot use the strain tensors from previous study. The simulation cases considers thermal cycle so, for th e better accuracy, I think the strain tensor from previous study step should be used as the initial strain of the next study step.

I made the simple calculations with and without using previous strain tensor as the next step strain tensor.
The results are quite different. So, I think that the strain tensor should be also considered as 'initial condition' of thermal stress cases.

But, I am a novice of COMSOL so I would like to ask your comment about it.

Thanks

Best Wishes

H. Shin
