Indentation of a Cylindrical Battery Cell

Indentation tests are commonly used to evaluate the safety of battery cells by assessing the risk of internal short circuits under external mechanical loads.
This example demonstrates how to set up such a test, in which an indenter is pressed onto a battery cell, causing large deformation of its components. The analysis is performed using an explicit dynamic approach that accounts for plasticity and contact mechanics.
