Linear motors are used in many applications in need of translational motion. Typical characteristics of linear motor designs are high precision or quick acceleration. In this model a synchronous motor with three phase winding on stationary part and permanent magnets on moving part is investigated. Moving mesh and periodic conditions are utilized in order to model a periodic part of a complete motor.
It is also explained how to use this model for a 2D representation of an axial flux motors (rotational motion).
