Magnetic field for 2 infinite, parallel current sheets

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I am trying to model a classic magnetic field textbook problem of two infinitely long parallel current sheets, where the currents in the two sheets are opposite direction. As such, the magnetic field is to be contained between the middle of two sheets and zero outside (top and bottom free space). I have tried to model this using the periodic boundary condition for the boundaries on the left and right. Unfortunately, COMSOL does not set the magnetic field in the exterior region to zero. I think this is because COMSOL is trying to make the magnetic field solenoidal.

Does anyone know how to set the boundaries in the top and bottom region to make this? Is this type of model possible in 2D?

Thanks,
George
