How to define elasticity matrix D for anisotropic material in 2D plane strain

I know the coefficients of the 6 by 6 matrix for the material in 3D, how can I convert it to 2D 4-by-4 matrix?

In theory, should it be a 3X3 matrix since only 3 stress exist in the case of plane strain?

In Comsol, D is 4X4 matrix for 2D anisotropic material , but I can not find the explanation for each element.
