Magnetic force calculation with virtual work approach

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hey community,

I'm trying to calculate the attraction force between a coil and a permanent magnet by using the virtual work approach. Running the attached simulation only delivers NaN when evaluating the objective expression of the sensitivity module. Furthermore I have a problem with the Infinite Elements domain around my air surrounding of coil and magnet. Close to the symmetry center (r = 0), white boxes with mesh element size appear at top and bottom when plotting the flux norm. What is wrong in the simulation ?

Thanks in advance
Matthias

Hi Matthias,

Did you ever find out why you were having problems like these? Or did you find an alternative approach...

Thanks,
Stan
