How Can I set up heating by light

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi everyone,I am using COMSOL in my research. I would like to simulate the temperature change due to light absorption when a thin metal is placed on a dielectric (Sillica glass) and light is incident on it. However,I don't know how to simulate heat transfer using light as a heat source. Now I have "wave optics" and "Heat transfer" module,so I want to use their module. Please teach me the way. Thanks in advance.

Hello Riku

The COMSOL gallery has a model that will help you with your question.

Laser heating model using a heat transfer module is introduced.

In this model, the specified heat flux distribution is specified, however if the heat flux is defined according to the electric field intensity distribution calculated by the wave optical module, it is possible to simulate the irradiation conditions by a complicated optical system.

In the gallery, wave optics model in which the refractive index is changed according to the intensity distribution is also introduced. https://www.comsol.jp/model/self-focusing-14639
