Prescribed Displacement

Hi everyone,

I am trying to solve a prblem of solid mechanics, in which a non uniformly distributred displacement is applied on the edge. Suppose I have a rectangle as geometry and on the top edge I have to apply the displcement which is the function of the x co-ordinate and magnitude is in the y direction (something like as shown in the attached picture).

How I can do that in the comsol, can someone please tell me. I am think to make a function but I don't know how to introduce the x co-ordinate as independent variable in that function or is there any other way to do the same thing.

Thank you, Manish

You could add a function, but the easiest is to just type the expression directly as the value for the prescribed displacement. Something like

0.1[mm]*(1-X/5[cm])*(X<5[cm])
