Typically, it is not enough to do "Show Equation View". One point is that you have to have selected a domain/boundary/whatever before you look at the equations or nothing will show up.
If you do that and you still see no equations, then you may also have to click on the button above the (empty) table of equations. As you mouse over the button says "Restore Equation View", or something like that.
9 times out of 10 this gets you to see the equations you need....
