The Application Gallery features COMSOL Multiphysics® tutorial and demo app files pertinent to the electrical, structural, acoustics, fluid, heat, and chemical disciplines. You can use these examples as a starting point for your own simulation work by downloading the tutorial model or demo app file and its accompanying instructions.

Search for tutorials and apps relevant to your area of expertise via the Quick Search feature. To download the MPH-files, log in or create a COMSOL Access account that is associated with a valid COMSOL license. Note that many of the examples featured here can also be accessed via the Application Libraries that are built into the COMSOL Multiphysics® software and available from the File menu.

Using Text Files to Automate Model Preprocessing

This example demonstrates how to set up text files to use when preprocessing models that contain hundreds of parts. A more detailed description of the phenomenon and the modeling process can be seen in the blog post "[Automate Model Preprocessing with the Application Builder](https://www.comsol.com/blogs/automate-model-preprocessing-with-the-application-builder/) ... Alpha to Gamma Transition

Capacitively coupled RF discharges can operate in two distinct regimes depending on the discharge power. In the low power regime, known as the alpha regime, the electric field oscillation is responsible to heat and create electrons. In the high power regime, known as gamma regime, the ... Read More

Superfilling Electrodeposition

This example illustrates the concept of superfilling in electrodeposition. The deposition rate is accelerated in concave areas of the surface, where the concentration of a surface catalyst is increased due to the area contraction of the moving boundary. Read More

Effect of Roller Bearing Clearance on Nonsynchronous Vibration of a Rotor

Bearing clearances should be kept minimum to avoid non-synchronous vibration of a rotor. However, a tight clearance reduces the durability of the bearing. This example illustrates modeling of the vibration induced by nonlinear contact for different radial clearances. It is shown that ... Read More

Mechanical Precession for the Axle of a Bicycle Pedal

Mechanical precession prevents bicycle pedals from falling off. The model captures this effect using a multibody dynamics simulation together with a contact analysis. A friction coefficient is associated with the contact in order for the model to capture the effect. Read More

Beam Section Calculator (Using LiveLink™ for Excel®)

This app demonstrates the following: * Reading and importing data from an Excel®-file * Exporting data to an Excel®-file * Light theme The app computes the beam section properties and true stress distribution in a designated steel beam section. A broad range of American and European ... Read More

Gray Body

A gray body with a spherical cavity with various opening areas is simulated using the _Heat Transfer, Surface-to-Surface Radiation_ interface. The emissivity for each case is computed and compared with the classical gray body theory. The COMSOL Multiphysics® result agrees very ... Read More

Eigenmodes in the Presence of Flow using Linearized Navier-Stokes: Annulus Geometry with Shear Flow

Finding acoustic eigenmodes in problems solved with linearized convected acoustic interfaces can be a challenging task. The solution will most often return several non-acoustic vorticity and entropy modes. These are highly damped waves that do not propagate at the speed of sound but with ... Read More

Biosensor Designer for Use with COMSOL Client for Android™

COMSOL Client for Android™ is an app available in the Google Play™ store for users of COMSOL Server™. It includes features and functionality designed specifically for use with tablets and other mobile devices. The Biosensor Designer comes in two different layouts: * ... Read More

Removing Details in Model Geometries

This model illustrates how to use the *Remove Details* operation to automatically find and remove small details from a model geometry. Read More
