Hi,
I was trying to run an impedance calculation on a square copper coil in air. I am using a trial version of comsol. It gives me the following error:

Failed to evaluate variable

variable: mod1.emw.ahPortx
Geometry: 1
Boundary: 33
failure to evaluate expression
expression ((((mod1.emw.ahPortx*mod1.tEx)+ (mode1.tEy*mod1.emw.ahPorty))+(mod1.emw.ahPortz*mod1.tEz))/mod1.emw.wPort)
Failure to evaluate expression
expression ((((mod1.emw.ahPortx*mod1.tEx)+ (mode1.tEy*mod1.emw.ahPorty))+(mod1.emw.ahPortz*mod1.tEz))/mod1.emw.wPort)
Failure to evaluate expression
Expression: mod1.emw.intlport1(((((mod1.emw.ahPortx*mod1.tEx)+(mod1.tEy*mod1.emw.ahPorty))+(mod1.emw.ahPortz*mod1.tEz))/mod1.emw.wPort))

variable mod1.emw.Vport_1
defined as :mod1.emw.intlport1(((((mod1.emw.ahPortx*mod1.tEx)+(mod1.tEy*mod1.emw.ahPorty))+(mod1.emw.ahPortz*mod1.tEz))/mod1.emw.wPort))

Hi,

I had similar problems with uniform lumped ports. It worked after I changed it to user defined ports specifiying height and width of the port. I don't know why the uniform port didn't work and also COMSOL support couldn't help.

I am using 4.1.

Cheers
Edgar

Thanks for the suggestion. Will surely look into that.
From what i see from the other threads, it also depends on luck?
For some it works while for the others it does not.
Any idea on that?
