General question about CFD module capability

Hello,

I would like to simulate the flow of two different gases coming in opposite directions into a chamber. Is it possible to specify when each gas begins to flow and the duration of the flow? For example, I would like to have the second gas begin to flow X seconds after the first gas and to have both of them flow for a total time of Y seconds.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is easy to do: in a transient analysis you can specify inputs as functions of time via various pre-implemented functions, your own analytical expressions or measured profiles. You will find many tutorials illustrating how to set up transient problems in the Model Library (Accessed through the File menu, in version 4.4). If you are starting with the software, we'd recommend you work through the exercises contained in the "Introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics" manual (Accessed through File>Help>Documentation or, alternatively, here: www.comsol.com/shared/downloads/IntroductionToCOMSOLMultiphysics.pdf).
Should you need further assistance, you can contact COMSOL's support team through www.comsol.com/support .
