HPC-Enabled Simulation Aids in the Design of Customized High-Power Electrical Devices

Engineers at Block Transformatoren-Elektronik design custom coiled products, including transformers, power supplies, EMC filters, and reactors. Their products meet exact specifications regarding working frequency, product size, weight, electrical power losses, electrical insulation, and environmental conditions.

To save on development costs, the researchers at Block use the COMSOL Multiphysics® software to reduce the number of physical prototypes needed before finalizing a design. Two of their design analyses include the temperature distribution throughout an air-cooled DC choke and the magnetic flux density in a toroidal choke.
