Medtronic Advances Ablation Technology with Multiphysics Simulation

Researchers at Medtronic studied ablation technology using multiphysics simulation to enhance physicians' abilities to plan and implement ablation procedures. Their research aimed to understand and optimize the emitting and receiving properties of ablation probes to eliminate soft tissue tumors. With the COMSOL Multiphysics® software, the research team investigated diverse aspects of the ablation process, from radiometric performance under different conditions to heat transfer through tissue and liquid-to-gas phase change dynamics.
