If you are interested in using COMSOL Multiphysics® and the RF Module for the mathematical modelling of electromagnetic wave phenomena, this is the course for you. During the 2-day course, you will learn how to build models for microwave engineering and antenna design.

We will start by discussing the key features of the RF Module, including the capabilities for modelling metals, free space and excitations in the model. How these features can be used to model a range of applications in RF and microwave engineering will then be demonstrated.

The RF and Microwave Modelling in COMSOL Multiphysics® course, allows existing and potential users of our RF Module to quickly get acquainted with the software's modelling capabilities.

    • Fast frequency sweep methods with the Adaptive Frequency Sweep and Modal methods
  • The Electromagnetic Waves, Boundary Elements Method
    • Combining finite element and boundary element modelling together
  • Passive devices, filters and waveguides
    • Modelling of cavity and waveguide structures
    • Lumped element RF circuits
  • Resonant structures
    • Computing the resonant frequency and quality factor
  • RF Scattering
    • Use of the Reduced Field Formulation
  • Antenna design
    • Simulation of typical antenna structures
    • Computing impedance, S-parameters, and far-field radiation
  • Losses and RF Heating

Suggested Background

This course assumes a background and familiarity with the concepts of RF and microwave engineering. We strongly recommend that those new to COMSOL Multiphysics® take the COMSOL Multiphysics® Intensive Training course prior to attending this class

Fee

The fee for this two-day course is £695 per person. Academic discounts are available upon request. Charges include course materials.
